In the early 1920s, Joseph Pilates developed a systemized form of exercise known as Pilates. This exercise focuses on core strengthening and can be performed on equipment or on a mat using your own weight, anyone can perform this popular exercise, and it's actually safer than some other types of straightening exercises.

Each exercise in the Pilates system builds upon the previous, providing a safe way to move through exercises, and promoting a long lean musculature that is specific to each body type and form. In addition to strengthening core muscles, this exercise is also great as a foundation for all other types of exercise.
